Two quickies
1. Just to clarify--it was said that "if UMSL, Miami, and South Carolina
want to shorten their seasons, let them do it," or something like that. To
make sure, I was saying that if debate were just beginning, it would not be
a bad idea for CEDA points only to count from December to March. Because
"round robins" don't count for many points anyway, they could be moved
before then as "practice." So yes I might vote yes on such a proposal as a
change.
But, as I also noted, I could live without it as well. I stated that
I don't see season shortening happenin' as many tournaments have been
established for years in the fall, and some of these schools depend on them
for revenue and exposure. So given the fact that CEDA offers a six
touranament plus nationals sweepstakes now, Delaughder's point above is a
particularly good one, one UMSL, in fact, will follow next year by taking
CEDA up on its six plus nationals deal. I also would note that my prior
point that if there are those who desire to go from September to April,
then, they should be able to do so and if they earn more points this way
because of the resources they have worked hard to earn, so be it.
2. Why the silence on the bidirectional issue with the slate of CEDA topics?
