If he's willing to, sure.  I was planning on approaching it just by
forming a consensus among the three or four folks who did it last year.
Between us, we should be able to develop something much more useful than
the previous attempts.

I agree, of course, that Debate Central should remain the primary contact
point for the activity, but it seems to make sense to split up the duties
of maintaining the research sites.
