Alternate Agent (and hoops?)

I like the idea of the UN as an alternate agent. There is a depth of
literature about UN action. Especially if debaters get to think and make
Constructed Premises again (down with the solvency problem!). There is
also a depth of literature about why the UN shouldn't act, why its bad,
etc etc...

Hey UMKC can dig out Paul Hay's old John Birch research, and maybe Paul
can duplicate some and we'd have the old "one-worlders burn in hell" DAs
comin back :) *chuckle*

I think the US is a perfectly good actor, but if we would like to explore
an alternate agent, we did in CEDA a few years ago, and it was the UN,
and we debated it for an entire semester, could've been an entire year.

I think a UN topic would be good to include on the ballot. The DA ground
would still be cool, and anyone remember the Article 7 counterplan :)

In fact there were a couple of cases in the region on the topic, Burma
(Emporia), Cambodia (Emporia), and East Timor (UMKC and others) come to
mind. The topic area was human rights.. well the res focused on it
anyway. The debates were interesting.

UN docs are easily available to all schools, and its pretty debateable.
Unilat action would be CP ground..ASEAN might not like it.. ettc etc...

As we enter an era where the world has to decide between unipolarity and
multipolarity, it might be a timely debate again, Something to think abut
for everyone who wants to talk about something besides the US.

The UN.. *discuss*....

Jazz in 4 (thats a best of 7)... Remember game #1 bulls fans, the bulls
werent dominating by any means, it could be a 3-1 series.. very easily.

but Im cheerin no matter what!

wondering if you could still give the UN a standing army (I loved that Aff)
