High School Debate Position
Dear Debate Friends,
About 6 weeks ago I informed everyone of a Director of Forenscis
postion position at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Kansas.
Many people thought the position involved debate, it didn't. Ironically, I am
now posting a position for Director of Debate at Shawnee Mission
Northwest (yes, I am leaving coaching). Shawnee Mission Northwest
has about 70 kids in debate for next fall. Many are going to camp this
summer: Michigan Classic, Kentucky, Coon-Hardy @ Northwestern,
UMKC, JIPS @ KU etc... The squad is a little young for next year, but
they have a lot of heart and talent. The job entails a full time teaching
position, as well as, coaching. Currently the teaching schedule would
include 4 classes of debate in the fall and an English class. The spring
schedule is a potpourri of different classes, including a spring semester
debate class. (Don't forget we only to policy debate in the fall in Kansas,
unless, of course, you were to qualify to NFL or CFL Nationals.)
If you are interested in the position here is what you need to do:
1) Contact Rob Winter at Shawnee Mission Public Schools, McEachen
Administrative Center, 7235 Antioch, SMKS. 66204, 913-993-6431 (He
can tell you what all you need to do.)
2) Do the screening interview.
3) Contact the building folks. Jo Carrol-913-993-7200 (Director of
Curriculum and Hiring) Dr. Bill Harrington (Principal) His secretary's
name is Fran-be nice to her!
4) Good Luck!
You won't be able to contact me via e-mail after today. I am
unsubscribing to the L today. (But feel free to call me at home at
913-962-1741 if you have any questions or perhaps need any insight.)
Your posts are always interesting. Thanks to all! Debbie Glenn
