JOB OPENING AT MERCER
I have just recently accepted the director position at San Francisco
State University for next fall and Mercer is, as I type, formulating an
official position announcement for my replacement.
Mercer is an absolutely great place to teach and work and it is in the
heart of district VI - the greatest group of debate people I know. The
program is well supported by a substantial travel budget and scholarship
budget. There are also a great group of students returning.
As yet unofficial, but sounding more firm by the moment is that the
position next year will be a one year visiting professor/instructor.
Duties will likely include direction of the debate program and teaching
two courses in each semester. The person taking the position would
likely have the inside track for the full-time tenor track position that
will for subsequent years. Of course the tenor track position would be
dependent on an eventual completion of a PhD. For now all interested
parties are readily encouraged to inquire about the job.
I'll post a official job announcement as soon as it is final.
Feel free to contact me or the department chair, Marian Zielinski, at
(912) 752-2975.
