Well, actually I said 'will be added in 1997' because the ASEAN Foreign
Ministers agreed to admit Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar into ASEAN at the
30th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in July 1997 in Kuala Lumpur. The article
you read probably said they made the decision to admit them (which
they have) but the three nations haven't been officially admitted yet.
The article was (most likely) reporting on the May 31st meeting where
they came to this decision. (according to the ASEAN Secretariats
report).
