Re: Researched topic wordings
I agree with Doyle Srader and Steve Mancuso. Let's not get ourselves into
a situation where we are stuck with a resolution that isn't going to
either get us at the heart of the debate about Southeast Asia or that is
too non-sequitur to the literature. My suggestion (and the stuff I'm
researching now) is to look through government documents as well as the
excellent and thorough bibliography that Stacey and Dick put together in the
topic paper.
Additionally, I think the security/military/CBM angle (security
assistance) is not going to be that fruitful of a category in this
particular region; additionally, I think that Laura's post provides
pretty good reasons to NOT debate a military topic.
Right now, I think that development assistance looks pretty fruitful, but
I could be wrong. I'll let y'all know in a week or two after I've dived
into GDOC research to see what the policy makers in the field have to say.
