We are very excited to have Djordje Pavicevic, an outstanding coach from
Yugoslavia, with us at the coaching workshop. Last year'sa coach from
Yugoslavia, Tomy Kargacin, was a big hit here. Djordje is finding this all
quite different than debate back home, but he has fallen in love with the
library already.
So far we have had over 40 practice debates and no student has backed out
yet, which is unusual in that at least some people get cold feet when they
are forced to debate on the third day of the institute.
Each argument group has their own room 24-7, so we expect that to improve
productivity.
NOTE: We may be surprised to find out how much this topic will be about
consumer product safety. We already have an indoor air pollution case
coming together. The literature is replete with language from the topic
when it refers to hazardous products. This last message comes from Jan
Hovden and John Meany.
