A FINAL LOW-COST WORKSHOP OPTIONContent: The IMPACT Coalition believes that urban and commuter students have



 Philosophy	All those invited as leaders (students and coaches alike) have
something of value to share.  The Coalition encourages full discussion of
beliefs and approaches to CEDA without censure.  The organizers contend that
the playing field in CEDA can be levelled by teaching innovative approaches
to research and theory.
Special Tracks--Public Forum Debate (PFD) and newcomers to debate.
Dates:	August 17-25  (After the actual topic release, so ALL evidence and
positions developed will be useful during the semester).  Times:	Day
Sessions: 4:30-6p.m. 	Evening Sessions: 7pm.-9pm.
Registration:	Church Center for the United Nations, 7th Floor conference
rooms
		777 United Nations Plaza (1st Avenue and 44th Street)
Session Topics--Research Methodologies,Ethics/Conduct, Policy Theory,
Counterplans, 
Advocacy Burdens, Advanced Theory Issues, Nanotech, A-Life and the Teams that
love Them, 
Critique/Kritik Theory, Implications of A Joint CEDA/NDT Topic

APPEAL--In the interest of cross-over, we would invite any coaches or varsity
competitiors from the NDT, ADA or NEDA ranks who would like to give a
presentation to contact Andrew Jacobs (tisias@aol.com) as soon as possible.
 After August 12th, Will Baker will be back from Korea and can receive e-mail
from interested participants as well (impac99@aol.com).

Guest Lecturers/Forum Leaders--Will Baker (Queens College), Tim Mahoney (Pace
Unversity-invited), Jamie Dumas (Gonzaga University-invited), Frank Irrizary
(Syracuse University-invited), Andrew Jacobs (Rockland Community College),
Alan Dove (Columbia University), Nancy Wallace (Pace University), Derek
Shaffer (Cornell University),  Bill Charron (New York University), Mike Davis
(Syracuse University-invited), Anne Marie Mason (New York University), Anne
Marie O'Halloran (Cornell University), and top debaters and alumni from
Eastern programs and elsewhere.

**Videotaping and Breakdown of Speeches

**Topic Presentations--Field Experts will also give presentations on topic
elements including Dan Blumenthal, chair of the Queens Environment Campaign
and board member for the New York City Environment Campaign.

**Low Costs--$50 open, jv, novice debaters  * $25 participants from IMPACT
schools, $15 for rookies 
* Coaches can obtain cuts in fees by providing assistance.
