Endorsement of Professional Tournaments

MAFL has been most cooperative with us in scheduling their tournaments this
year, as well as others in this area. That way, schools in the Iowa area
have the best of both worlds--they are able to host tournaments when doing
so is especially important to their programs, yet they are always able to
attend five IE tournaments per year for low cost which are professionally
run. If my students prepare as I have asked them to this year, we shall
attend at least three of those tournaments. I endorse them heartily for
all schools which can afford to attend them. This organization does a fine
job of sticking to its calendar, and works well with others before
developing it.

I would like to thank all other tournaments who stick to their gameplans.
I got the Kentucky invitation in the mail today, and our debaters look very
much forward to attending such events that allow for advanced preparation.
This is thanks as well to the NDT/CEDA topic merger, and I'm hoping that
many others will be able to take advantage of such tournaments that offer
the opportunity for advanced planning.

I am taking this opportunity to plug the Gateway tournaments once again--we
will have invitations out to everybody via paper by August 15 (the first
one is a month later that Ky., so we feel we are on schedule). Once again,
the Gateway was the original IE/Parliamentary tournament Nov. 1-3, and the
Gateway Debate Tournament for CEDA/NDT has from the very getgo been on all
calendars Nov. 15-17. Thanks to some good help from good neighbors, these
promise once again to be the same preplanned, efficient tournaments as
always.

As well, remember that the IE tournament is a swing this
year--unfortunately with the spasmodic and uncertain changes taking place
at Northwest Mo this year, we have changed our swing partner--

So the second half the the Nov. 1-3 event will offer your students two
options--attend the Gateway Parli tournament, or attend a swing tournament
hosted by MCNEESE STATE on our campus Nov. 2-3!!!!!!!!!!

Scott and I are as usual very excited about this partnership, and we now
have two efficient, Jensen-run tournaments on our campus the same weekend!
We are naming the IE swing the "Louisiana Purchase Swing" and will promise
lots of fireworks and surprises this weekend!

The rates of the tournament will be exactly the same as announced earlier,
and the Holiday Inn/Lindbergh will offer a wonderful rate of $59.00 per
night! Awesome facility-worth coming a day earlier just to check out this
brand new holidome!

So keep these dates in mind: Nov. 1-3 for the IE/Parli Gateway and
                                                Louisiana Purchase Swing
                                                with McNeese State

Nov. 15-17 for the premier CEDA event
                                                that weekend, the Gateway--
LAST LEG OF THE JESUIT ROUND
                                                ROBIN QUALIFYING!

MANY MORE PLUGS LATER ON I GUARANTEE (of course all of you on all l's know
that by now without me saying!) We hope to see you all here!
