Kentucky Fellows Debate
GOOD EVENING MR. AND MRS. NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA, AND ALL SHIPS AT SEA. LET'S
GO TO PRESS:
The third Kentucky Fellows demonstration debate was held recently with Fellows
Misti Hewatt(South Gwinett) and Emily Wynes(Iowa City West) defending the aff.
against Fellows Josh Goldberg(Greenhill) and Steve Bailey(Isidore Newman) on the
negative.
Institute instructor David Heidt, Emory University, filed this report:
"The affirmative ran "ban the juvenile court, claiming racism and due process
advantages. The negative ran an establish topicality violation, critical legal
scholars, and clinton bad with a CWC impact.
The negative went for CLS in the 2NR to turn the due process advantage.
The aff. went for Clinton turns and CLS turns in the 2AR.
The audience vote was 64-22 affirmative; the Fellows vote was 7-3 aff.
I voted affirmative on link turns to Clinton after deciding that the CLS turns
undercut the solvency of the case. The neg. tried to argue that CLS turned
rights, which outweighed Clinton, but in doing so questioned the legitimacy of
rights as a notion, which undercut their impact claims."
PEACE, LOVE, AND UNDERSTANDING,
