last post on the benefits of non-disclosure to be very interesting.
I've never really heard it expressed in quite that manner before.
    Let me suggest an analogy that I feel is better suited for debate
than warfare: judicial proceedings. Since the goal in the courtroom
is justice (hopefully analogous to the "best decision" in debate),
the defense is generally accorded the right (at least in criminal
proceedings) of knowing what evidence or witnesses the prosecution
intends to call. The goal here is to provide as much opportunity as
possible for the accused to defend her presumption of innocence. The
goal is to allow the best forum possible for complete discussion of
important issues, as opposed to guaranteeing the element of surprise.
