Support For Historically Black Colleges Tournament

I posted a brief message on the CEDA L about possible CEDA financial
support for a tournament for Historically Black Colleges that is being
planned by Morehouse College.  Two Morehouse debaters, Deon Garner
and Ken Newby are working on this project with the help of Paul Wiebe who
coaches and directs the Morehouse program.  

It is my understanding that this tournament will be an attempt to generate
interest in debate among these colleges.  There will be an attempt to
design a format that will be more engaging for students who have no debate
experience and from schools that in most cases have no debate program and
little, if any, faculty or financial support for this activity.  I am
awaiting more information on the tournament, dates, formats, topic, etc.
I would like to suggest that CEDA should strongly consider trying to
support this tournament with a financial grant.  As soon as I get more
details, I will try to put together a proposal or perhaps others will
help with a proposal.

This could lead to new students and new programs joining us or other kinds
of debate activity.  

I would like to hear others respond to this proposal and make suggestions
for other methods of development, support, etc.
