Hi. You don't know me...but Will Repko does. Could you print this
letter, and give it to him? I only hope that he remembers me...CEDA
world, please bear with me, I hope this isn't abusing the CEDA-L...
sorry. You are all free to read, it mostly just talks about me...
boring, huh?
Will-
How is it going? I hope you remember me, my name is John Boyer,
and I was in your lab at MNDI during the summer of 1995. Your
partner was John Lawson, and others in the lap included Derek
Chitipusalkul and Abby Chattergy. I wonder if you remember, I was
the oldest in the lab, and I had lerengitus for a week. Anyway, I
was just writing to tell you how I was doing.
I am a freshman at Otterbein College outside Columbus, Ohio where
I am a Lincoln Douglas debator. I was supposed to be a CEDA
competitor this year, but my partner ended up dropping out of college.
So I have spent the year keeping fresh doing L-D. I am a national
qualifier, and just finished 3rd at the last tournament. My last
year at HS, which your lab prepared me for, earned me a spot in octas
at the Ohio State Tournament, in only my second year of organized
debate, and first year in varsity. I ran the Three Gorges Case that
our lab wrote, the entire year, and it won 75% of the time for me. I
have you to thank.
I remember you talking about hearing from ex-students, and felt
compelled to write you. I am having a wonderful time at college and
hope that there will be some willing debators to come to Otterbein
next year. We need to revive a CEDA/NDT style program here at
Otterbein, and I hope to be the one to do it.
Are you a part of Pi Kappa Delta nationals? I will be competing
there in L-D, and possibly CEDA for the UMKC team as Berryman's
partner, maybe I will see you there. For now, I wish your program
luck, and you luck and congratulations on team successes. I do
monitor the CEDA-L daily, hoping that I can get involved. Thanks for
your time...I only hope you remember me.
Sincerely,
John Boyer
Thanks Jason, in advance for delivering this message, it is much
appreciated.
