I'm unclear why the invites persay "demean" CEDA? These arguments seem
inconsistent. If the open tournament must be last, must be treated as
the most prestigious and nothing can be done to hurt it, they why the
concern about guaranteeing slots for CEDA participants to the NDT.
Moreover, the suggestion to offer 16 invites seems to me like an added
incentive for more teams to attend CEDA nats, on top of all the reasons
listed below.

That's fine. I think that either way this is a power struggle that shouldn't
derail what we are trying to do. I seriously have my doubts that the NDT
community is going to cave on changing the way bids are done for a
tournament that would just be the warmup for the "real deal." (gotta
believe that this cuts both ways). I guess that I think the only
political solution to this is to fight for both as being important, even
if for different reasons. If done correctly, I think that the top teams
will want to do both and win both.
