Apology

                    February 25, 1995

Dear CEDA Colleague,

We formally apologize to all our CEDA colleagues for our unintentional
error of entering Joe Staromana as a novice debater during the recent
University of Vermont Debate tournament. The undersigned assume full
responsibility for this mistake. Joe Staromana was not at fault. We gladly
surrender any claim to the CEDA Sweepstakes points earned by this team and
will ensure that all team trophies and speaker awards are promptly given to
their rightful owners.

Rest assured that our error was an honest mistake, not an intentional
effort to gain an unfair advantage. We discovered the mistake while
reviewing our records after the tournament and promptly self-reported it to
the Tournament Director. We deeply appreciate the high level of
professionalism with which he has handled this incident.

We sincerely regret the negative impact of our mistake and will take
great pains to ensure that this never recurs.

We look forward to continued participation with all of you in future
CEDA events!

Thank you for your understanding,

MAJ Rick Coplen Cadet Dale Rehkopf
Director of Debate Cadet in Charge
US Military Academy Army Debate Team
