The Old Man & the Sea

If you wish to continue this dialog, I urge you to be more
intellectual in your choice of responses. These silly ad homs and non-
sequitur attacks are more suited for a style of debate which has
already passed, even in CEDA.

You say that my story is meaningless because it doesn't mention the
word "oceans." If you assume, as you stated, that I am on the
negative, why would it be necessary to mention oceans to be making a
negative argument? Do you ignore all disads unless they have the word
"oceans"? If you do, I sure wouldn't want to debate in front of you.
Your arguments only make sense if the narrative was the only one
presented in 1AC.

In actuality, Sean, the poorly-written narrative I shared with the
list would've been run in either 2AC or 2NC (or any other later
speech) as a response to your attempt to exclude a narrative that
might have mentioned "oceans." The way that Weber has approached the
narrative (which does distinguish it from earlier narrative
approaches) is that we respond to all arguments in the narrative. No
line-by-lines. Lines-by-stories. I know that this probably only
serves to increase your reasons for ridicule, but we think it is an
interesting statement about what this community has codified as
"good" argumentation. To say that our stories are any sillier than
many of the "real" arguments that I heard at GSL seems to be a
hopeless attempt at equivocation.

Sean, as I've said before, I am beginning to doubt your sincerity in
this dialogue. I really find it hard to believe that someone who was
as successful as you were (or at least I'm told) could be as close-
minded and as full or scornful ridicule. Perhaps you should be
reading some of that fiction down at Waldens.
