Re: GSL & womyn on the "L"

In my debate experience (albeit limited experience) in the CEDA Novice
division I have found my best opponents (and most highly scored opponents)
male or female, to be assertive. Being lackadaisical and laid back doesn't
present a confident image. A hesistant or wishy-washy attack (speech)
detracts from the debate. While I can't speak for JV and Open divisions,
nor from the judges standpoint, I haven't seen any perceptable, reoccuring
bias that benefits female debaters or puts them at a disadvantage. Although
it may very well occur, I feel that bias is probably an exception rather
than a rule.

If anyone with more experience can offer greater insight into the issue, I
would be happy to hear it.
Additionally, I should mention that 75% of my opponents are male.
