Internet Video Debates from Debate Central

CU-SeeMe is a software program for windows & Mac which allows you to use an
internet connection to access video images. It is shareware. Combined with
the microphone which comes with most computers these days and the less than
$100 small B&W cameras now available to clip on to your monitor (QuickCam
is an example) it is possible to carry on a face to face discussion or, in
our case, debate.

Those of you interested in tuning in to this and other video events on the
internet should visit the CU-SeeMe web site to download the CU-SeeMe
software as well as receive instructions and assistance:
http://cu-seeme.cornell.edu/Welcome.html
Then you can begin watching what others are doing around the world now and
get ready for the first competitive internet video debate.

In March, before CEDA Nationals, Debate Central will sponsor an online
debate, featuring an affirmative team and their old nemesis, the negative
team, along with a judge/critic. If you have CU-SeeMe installed you will be
able to watch this event. We will probably have an unadvertised practice
round first.

Get ready, and stay tuned for this historic event.

Other events will follow, such as regularly scheduled broadcasts of
lectures delivered by top debate coaches, panel discussions, etc.

More information will be available soon on your listserv.

Brought to you by Debate Central and yours truly.
