An apology

My fellow debate colleagues,

	I never realized that a simple humorous response to an already 
humorous message would cause such furor and confusion.  It seems my 
response to Yuval's Dec 7 post entitled "How to Argue Effectively" would 
be misinterpreted and taken out of context to believe some of the things 
that were expressed to my coach.
	First, I apologize to my team and coach for an misleading that 
may have been caused by the post.  I never meant to insinuate that our 
coach, Scott Elliot, condones any drug or alchohol usage/abuse among his 
team members.  I have the utmost respect for my coach would never 
intentially disrespect him in any way such as this.  Scott has done many 
wonderful things for our debate program and I applaud all of his efforts 
to make Southeastern Louisiana University one of the most competitive 
schools on circuit.
	Secondly, I never meant to insinuate that there was any such drug 
or alchohol abuse/usage among our team members during tournament 
weekends.  This was not my intention.  I was simply making a humorous 
response to a humorous post and apologize if anyone mistook what was 
said.  I understand that the process of communication is a two-way street 
and I have a responsibility to make sure that what I say is heard and 
understood properly and within context and I apparently didn't fulfill my 
responsibility on that end.  And for that I am truly sorry.
	Finally, the Esq. in my .sig file was a joke as well.  But for 
your and understanding...it has been removed.
	I certainly hope that this has been cleared up.  Any questions 
can be directed to me back channel.  I only hope that this doesn't 
diminish Scott's reputation or the reputation of SLU debate team.
