Well, in case no one else has said it, let me be the first. I COACH SPEED
DEBATE. As the coach at a junior college, it is my job to try to instill in
my debaters, the skills witch will make them attractive to the schools that
have scholarships available.These schools tend to be the ones that travel a
circuit beset with fast debaters. So, if I want to help my kids get those
scholarships, I teach them to go faster and faster. This I do with great
pleasure. And until schools start givng major bucks for slow persuavive
debate, I will continue to teach speed debate.
