David, your assistance in posting the following message to those list servs
were you found the original message from Cal State Chico would be greatly
appreciated.
A message was posted on the Internet on Thursday, October 19, 1995 by
someone at California State University, Chico, which led colleges and
universities to believe that the LEXIS-NEXIS Business Information Service
(+BIS+) Educational Program had been reopened to new schools. THIS IS NOT
CORRECT!!!
The BIS Educational Program was closed to New Schools in March 1993, because
of capacity issues relating to heavy use of our services by students and
faculty at participating schools. The decision was made at that time to
permit new, targeted departments within Universities already participating
in the program, to participate in the BIS Educational Program. Those
targeted programs are Masters of Library and Information Science, Journalism
and Masters of Business Administration. The message that was posted to the
Internet was referencing the educational subscription between LEXIS-NEXIS
and The California State Universities, a participant in our educational
program since its inception, and a request by Cal State to add journalism
related departments to the program.
LEXIS-NEXIS regrets that it cannot provide this subsidized, promotional
program to additional colleges and universities.
