for those of you who have access to the web net, there are lots of 
different sources to be found.  alot of them have access to the documents 
over the internet.  in one search i found a list of different 
oceangraphic research groups that offer databases and gopher servers as 
well as lists.  some of them are free and others cost.  a few of the free 
gophers are listed below:

enviro link:  gopher://envirolink.org

many more are available with internet numbers as well.
