loooooooong msgs

Guys! You're killin' me! Or rather your killing my ability to
use my account. Some of us (I know I'm not the only one) have limits on
the capacity of our accounts. When looooong msgs show up, they take up a lot
of this avilable space. It got to the point where I couldn't even print out
some of the long msgs which included ev. cites. I first had to delete some
other stuff.
My point is pretty simple, and has already been made by Jamey
some time ago. Please keep those msgs down.
It would seem that you can take debaters out of the round, but you can't
take the round out of the debaters. :-) Not that this is a bad thing, but what
it means is that we have unofficially entered the realm of cyber-debate which
Tuna brought up in a very early posting. This might be a good thing, BUT, we
are effectively debating without any of the normal constraints that we typically
impose on one another (especially time / space constraints). So, to conclude
(until someone disagrees with me- which will probably happen in a couple of
hours):
I would suggest that we TRY to limit ourselves. Jamey's notion of
"chopping up" really long msgs is cool, and has been practiced on occaision,
but I would further suggest that if you would like to include long citations
to back up what you are saying, that you either: merely give us a reference, so
that we could reseaerch the pertinent material ourselves; OR prepare a text file
separately with all of the ev that you wish to include, then send that file to
the serv, so that anyone who wants to can receive it into their account to
print it or whatever.
I guess the key is that not everyone wants to spend an hour reading
through mile long posts which consist mainly of typed in evidence. I, for
one am more interested in people's opinions than in their research, at least
when I'm not in a round, anyway.
I know that I may be stretching some people's e-mail abilities to the
limit with some of these ideas, but I have faith in everyone's ability to learn
to use the cybernetic tools which we are so fortunate to have available to us.

        HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
