THE THOUGHT POLICE

Snyder, 
	I apologize if I caused any harm to anyone because of a counterplan
that I thought was simply RIDICULOUS! However, I will not take anything back. I 
honestly believe that the Counterplan is poor and lacks a logicial flow.
Snyder, nowhere in your defense of Max and Josh's CP do you logically
defend it, rather you decided to rip a million adhomenon attacks at me. 
	You also assert that I am trying to gain some sort of "clout". OK that
makes sense, I am trying to gain clout by upseting the University of Vermont 
team. I obviously knew that my letter was not going to put me in a favorable 
light with you guys, so in no way, shape or form was I trying to gain "clout".
	 The reason I sent the letter was because I am MARC and I have
always liked to stir things up in any community, especially one that is 
"intellectually focused".
	 Furthermore, I was getting bored with CEDA-L only after a week of
being on it. I became involved with this issue after reading Rosen's "Mid-West
style" letter. Max than refuted Rosen's claims that the CP was weak. 
If I rembember correctly, Max would not defend the CP because he had a paper
to do that night. I was anxious when Josh responded to Rosen's article becuase
I wanted to hear the arguments for the CP as Max had not provided any.
	Snyder, I think your charges at me are quite dangerous for any
intellectual community. I am frightened by what I fear is becoming a 
growing THOUGHT POLICE. Individuals that upset the Status Quo and prevailing
debate thought are bashed as "selfish, immoral and weak." 
	Look, there was an argument that was on the table. We all have
access to this E-Mail distribution list, thus I think this is the closest we
could ever come to getting a true theoretical "free market place of ideas." You guys
have just as much of an opportunity to explain the logical contradictions
(I am sure there a lot, especially since I have never been an overwhelmingly
successful debater) within my arguments, and I HOPE that you do so!! 
	In conclusion, I did not want to restict my arguments to a few 
(privelleged, ha,ha,ha) people as you may have prefered, but rather I wanted
to gear the letter to the entire debate community, so that we could all have
an oppportunity to judge our individual contentions and premises. I have
many friends on your team, especially Josh whom I have known since my first 
tournament where he defeated me in a preety good round(judge sucked). Anyway,
take care, you have made a great evening of what I though was going to be
a relativly boring Friday night.
