Re: That oldtime Speed




Kristina let me clarify something I never said that debate should not be
an educational activity all I said is that that is not it's purpose.  I
believe that it's purpose (for most people) is as an ego boost. I think
people need the competition and debate gives them that. I believe that by
going fast I feel that I can get more arguements out and force everyone to
think on their feet.
	You can not and will not survive in the debate world by going
fast. You will always need to adapt to judges and the teams that do that
best are the ones who win. If a judge likes speed go fast if a judge
doesn't like speed go slow. That is where we get the best education. If in
the "real world" we can adapt to our audience then debate becomes an
educational activity.
