RE:Affirmative action and CR
Ok,
I didn't have time to read this whole paper, I actually have plans tonight, but I will. Right now, just a couple of side thoughts on Affirmative Action.
First, there are few issues which are as important. In our everyday lives, we encounter racism, sexism, and homophobia. It is an issue which affects ourselves, families, and friends on a regular basis.
Yes, we encounter this every day...but there are plans which are in place for these things.
Affirmative action is one of the most controversial policies to resolve civil rights conflict. The literature describes it as a "hot topic," a "controversial topic," a "divisive topic", and a topic about which "everyone has an opinion."
True, and I have a problem with this. Sure, our job as debtors is to change ideas and views...but not with pre-conceived biases. Personally I wouldn't like to debate something like abortion. Everyone does have and opinion, and since it is such a controversial topic to many people will have to many pre-conceived notions and biases that will make the rounds a luck of the draw with judges.
I'll send more later, but just some thoughts. This is taken solved for one,(at least in plan...it's still a problem sure.), and two there are to many biases out there.
