Re: Let's finish the merger

Ms. Brovero says we should consider merging the listservs, repeating an
earlier call by Ross. For the most part I agree.

As someone who also subscribes to parli, cx-l, ie-l, APDA, CUSID, debate-l,
pikap-l, and others, I need relief from double messages and divided
threads.

However, I am concerned about the different policies of the two listservs.

1. I believe that the owner of NDT-L does restrict content. For example,
institute or handbook information. I prefer the CEDA-L policy of open
posting.

2. I believe that you have to be subscribed to NDT-L in order to post to
it. This makes it difficult for non-subscribers to post something to the
list. I would prefer a "post from anyone" policy.

I also believe that we might need more than one listserv, but not because
of two different organizations. We might need to have some with different
foci: invitations, results, business on one; theory and argument
discussions on another; chat and social on another.

Just some thoughts.
