Re: Why Frigg is right about everything
Frigg makes the claim that beliefs are as an intrinsic part of an
individual as is sexual orientation...WHAT? This is a claim without a
warrant. Why do you believe this. I'll give a couple of reasons why I
think that this claim is wrong.
1. I have my beleifs changed on a fairly regular basis. Someone comes
along with good evidence or argument on something I evaluate it and say
hmm. guess I was wrong about that. On the other hand, My sexual
orientation is way above that sort reasoning. My sexual orientaion is not
based in or on logical reasoning. I did not weigh the pros and cons of
being attracted to men or women. What happened (as near as I can figure)
is that some time around late grade school age I started noticing that the
girls in class were gettin awful darn cute in ways that the boys in class
were not. This feeling intensified as the girls became women and the boys
became men. I didn't make that decission it just sorta happened! I like
to think that my belief system is based on logic and evidence. I know my
sexual orientation is not. Therefore: my sexual orientaion is intrinsic
to my being. My belief system is not.
