southeast asia

could someone more into the literature than i (there seem to be three on
this thread who are very knoweldgeable) explain/discuss a bit about
American foreign policy INFLUENCE in the region.

the question of INFLUENCE seems to have rather large implications for
solvency of many of the harm area concerns listed in the possible
resolutions.

is there a possibility (and i'm not necessarily advocating it) of
grouping multiple resolutions together to have one broader question
available.
US should alter foreign policy concerning one or more of the following:
democracy human rights regional security trade cultural hegemony towards
one or more of the following nations: .....brunnei, kampchea, indonesia,
laos, malaysia, myanmar, phillipines, singapore, thailand, vietnam
(awkard but i think i'm getting a preliminary idea across)

Dan also suggested a resolution about promoting integration (in my
ignorance i assume that means to strengthen asean apec etc.) although
once again i don't know our INFLUENCE here.

is there something unique to confidence building measures in this area
or will it primarily be a war of CBM backfiles.

definitely a lot to learn in this region. it would certainly be an
informtative subject matter.

could someone who knows more about the resolutions suggest a couple of
main thread case ideas under each topic to get a sense of what kinds of
debates we'd be discussing.

thanks,
david
