DERBY HIGHLIGHTS:

Unbridled's Song is the strong favorite to win the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.
Las Vegas odds are now giving the former Breeder's Cup winner 6-5 odds.
  As of today, the leaders are (1) Unbridled's Song (2) Skip Away, 3-1;
  (3) Grimestone, 5-1 and Alyorb, 5-1; (5) Zarb's Magic, and Cavonnier, 8-1.

Remember the favorite hasn't won since Spectacular Bid in 1979.

PATTERSON'S PICK: "Alyorb is lightly raced and has won no graded-stakes
money,
but he will win in the Derby like his sire, Alysheba won in 1987."jwp.

FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO IN LEXINGTON:

      1. "Kentucky Derby," in Louisville. Unless you know someone rich and

famous, you'll have to go to the infield. You probably won't see
any horses, but you will probably have more fun than anyone since
Tim Hynes was at Woodstock in 1969 as Jimi Hendrix closed the
event at
7:00 a.m. with the "Star Spangled Banner."

      2. "The Joseph Beth Bookstore," in Lexington. Joseph-Beth, a
Lexington
landmark, reopened last Saturday as one of the largest bookstores in
the United States. The sprawling store has 47,000 square feet
of
floor space on two floors and currently stocks 175,000 book titles
25,000 magazine titles, 25,000 music titles (classical, blues, jazz
and folk) as well as computer software.

The Cafe at Joseph-Beth's now serves beer and wine as well as gourmet
coffees. It also includes the Avant Travel Agency, numerous
fireplaces and reading tables, music on weekends, and has had a host
of book signings by such noted people as Hillary Rodham Clinton.

IMPORTANT FOR DEBATERS: The bookstore has many many books on your
topic, as well as over 300-500 related periodicals.

       3. "For the Avid Golfer," Lexington has several public golf courses,
all of which will be in great demand this weekend because of the
Derby and Keeneland. If you would like to play, we suggest you
            call one of the following:

            A. Kearney Hill Links
               3403 Kearney Road
               (606) 253-1981
               Green Fee: $20 (18 holes)

            B. Marriot's Griffin Gate Golf Club
               1800 Newtown Pike
               (606) 288-6193
               Green Fee: $52-$62

            C. Players Club of Lexington
                4850 Leestown Pike
