Re: Lexis at tournaments
Why limit the "new argument" restrictions to affirmatives? Can we run
new disads at nationals? How about an old disad with a new impact? Are
new case turns allowed. It seems as though all of these would meet with
the same objections as do new cases at nationals. Bear's post makes
sense. Kansas does a lot of work at tournament. We have enough judges
to allow Harris to remain relatively free to strategize. Drew France,
one of our two debaters in the elims at nationals this year works about
30 hours a week just to help defray the cost of attending school. He
works at the donut shop and gets up at about 4 every morning. Without
the ability to do work at tournaments his contribution to the squad would
be reduced substantially.
