UNI Ulrich Season Opener Tournament

I know it's early, but here are some of the details for the 1996
Ulrich Season Opener Debate Tournament at the University of
Northern Iowa:

The tournament will be open to any team wishing to debate the
CEDA topic, or its policy parallel (based on the votes at the NDT
and CEDA Nationals, the NDT will use the CEDA topic, or will
re-word it to a policy topic if a non-policy topic is chosen by
CEDA -- the UNI tournament will use the policy version of the
CEDA topic).

We will offer three divisions of debate: 8 prelims and 5 elims of
Open debate; 6 prelims and 2-3 elims of JV debate; 6 prelims and
2-3 elims of Novice debate.

Time limits for all divisions will be 9-3-6, with 10 minutes of
preparation time per team.

The tournament hotel will be the Waterloo Holiday Inn.  Pairings 
will be released at that hotel each morning, continental breakfasts
will be provided at that hotel each morning, and coaches receptions
will be held at that hotel each evening.  Elimination rounds for the
Open Division will be at the Sullivan Brothers Convention Center across
the street from the Waterloo Holiday Inn.

Registration will be on Friday evening, September 20.  Prelims will be
Saturday and Sunday, September 21 and 22.  Elims will be Monday the 23rd.

If you want additional information between now and mid-summer, let me know.
We anticipate mailing the invitations in mid to late July, and we will send
invitations to all schools in both the NDT and CEDA communities.

Finally, we also host an Individual Events tournament on campus the same
weekend, with registration on Friday evening, and competition on Saturday.
On Sunday the IE competition moves to Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA, for
the second half of the Season Opener Swing.  You can also contact me for 
more information about the I.E. swing.

See you all next fall -- we at UNI are looking forward to again hosting
the Season Opener on campus.
