Re: WWFKentucky CEDA tournament
1. JW Patterson runs an awesome tournament. Hospitality and graciousness are
stupendous. I would love to attend!
2. I suggest having a separate tab room so that both tournaments can stay on
time. CEDA rounds tend to start and finish faster. Although it would be nice
to share power pairing breaks so that we could all mill around together.
3. NDT & CEDA people can be sensitive. Try and not treat us like a younger
sibling or a rebellious child. I know that some CEDA people have told me that
they were disenchanted with the Northern Iowa tournament because they
perceived themselves as being treated like "second class debate." No offense
to UNI, and I never went to that tournament, but you know how it
is...."perception is key."
4. We have a major tournament in our region at the University of Rochester
that weekend, I believe. We need to check and see what other tournamnts are
happening that weekend. Maybe we can work it out. Usually, however, Vermont
will take 8-10 teams to Rochester.
5. Publicity would help. I'll bet if a critical mass of programs agreed to
attend (programs from the south, Emory, USoCarolina, Alabama, etc. plus some
out of area teams and ) people would know that it was going to be worth
attending confidence would rise.
6. It needs to be CEDA sanctioned so that it will count towards national
sweepstakes.
7. I would be glad to help!
8. Wow, and if we both debated Latin America we might have some crossovers!
This is one of the more important ways that we can cooperate. It can draw NDT
and CEDA closer together and can also show each other that we can move back
and forth.
J. W. Patterson is an ideal person to facilitate this!
