Re: Counterplans in the 2NC

If the negative can put out new constructive positions in the 2NC, then I
see no reason why the affirmative can't put out new advantages and
perhaps even a new plan in the 2AC.

So, what's so sacred about there being four constructive speeches? Why
not change the "rules" to suit the common practice or better yet to
improve debates? This would not require changing the number of speeches,
the order of speeches, or the length of speeches. It would require both
teams to put out their positions, in the main, during the first two
speeches. We might have to alter our concept of what an extension versus
a new argument is, but that's not much of a stretch.

Any takers?
