Re: Latin America
Just for your information Cumberland College is in Williamsburg,
Kentucky, the middle of nowhere! Actually, we are about an hour north of
Knowville, Tennessee. However, we really don't want to claim Kentucky;
my partner and I are both from Michigan.
Anyway, back to Latin America. I really don't think you know how bad our
library is. We go to the University of Tennessee library for ALL of our
research. As for the internet this is a great place to get research but
it is hard to do ALL of your research from here. I simply think that the
education topic is much more easily accesible.
Even if plenty of disads link there is still a lot of research required
on Latin America just to be familiar with the topic in general. If you
heard a case on something in Latin America that you were not familiar
with you would be much more lost than if you heard something about the
education topic.
Also, I still do not think that Latin America is as pertinent as the
education topic or as interesting. I do know what is out there on the
education topic and it is really good. You guys are assuming that we
must debate about higher education or the same education issue as last
time. There are a large number of educational issues that the education
topic could be narrowed to; most of these issues would not be in people's
backfiles. The status quo ground on this topic would really depend on what
the topic is narrowed to, however I do believe that it is out there. The
status quo is attempting to better itself all the time. All you have to do
is read the evidence about programs now and how they are working. I know
that is out there. Personally I would hope that we don't debate about
higher education but about the basics and how they are taught at the
elementary and high school levels. This is where a lot of discussion is
occuring in the education community and would make for good debate rounds.
Anyway, I hope I answered your questions and everyone have a wonderful
Easter holiday.
God Bless,
Amy Anderson
