Re:Inertia

Thanks for responding to my message. I tried to clear up some of the
misunderstandings my original message created in a response to Bear. I hope
both of you, and others, perceive these messages on my part as an attempt
to cooperate through dialogue.

Now to respond to parts of your message. My assumption is that to merge
into one organization would require for CEDA to no longer exist as CEDA
(and for NDT to no longer exist as NDT). To me, this would mean that CEDA
would be "dismantled."

Why does a treasurer keep books? Why does an organization have a treasury?
My assumption is that such things are done to contribute to the
health/success of the organization.

I do realize that many people pay NDT and CEDA dues so they can compete in
both. My assumption is that the majority of people who pay CEDA dues want
to see the organization continue as a separate organization. If this
assumption is wrong, the members of the organization can make it plain that
they want a merger by: (1) electing candidates who have campaigned for a merger,(2) Having a grassroots merger (everybody back their bags and move to one
organization -- NDT, CEDA, PKD, DSR-TKA, ADA, etc.), or (3) making a formal
motion/constitutional amendment for a merger at a CEDA business meeting.

I can't, as you suggested, do what I want with the money. I would like to
take my wife to Europe with the CEDA budget. I assume that the membership
would not appreciate that. I, also, assume that themajority of the membership
would not appreciate me using my position or the money to end the
distinctiveness of CEDA as a separate organization.
