Re: Tom Jewell's Claim of No Response From the Topic Commit

The request made by Tom Jewell was not this kind of request. It was
simple request that the NDT topic be included on the fall ballot. There
was no suggestion or rationale or justification provided with the
request. I have the original e-mail if there is any douubt about what
Jewell's request was. The topic process is not over yet and the fall NDT
topic still might be considered. I don't personally have many problems
with the wording of the topic on drugs in Latin America so if that wins I
will personally suggest we seriously consider this topic on the ballot.
However, there was a response made to Tom Jewell's request when he asked
what happened. Too bad that there was misrepresentation and the usual
flaming when there was not immediate capitulation to a request that was
submitted without any elaborated arguments.

Did Bryant read my post? I suggested what the thoughts might be on a
topic that was not discussed. I even said it was just speculation. I
would suggest that someone do a poll. I am planning one or two relevant
questions about this on a topic survey I plan to put in the mail this week.

I know nothing of what the NDT has done. I do not believe this question
has been raised in any way in any business or executive council meeting.
I may be wrong since I am no longer on the executive council of CEDA.
Certainly, any member of the CEDA community could raise the issue of
merger by framing a motion. Also any member could frame a motion to
modify the topic process by automatic inclusion of the NDT topic on the
ballot. But the only efforts that have been made to do this have been to
make brief suggestions to the topic committee and to talk and flame about
it on the L. I am very dissappointed in Bryant's response because I
don';t thinkhe read my response very carefully and I don't think he has
the facts. I am sure if he had the facts his response would be different.
