CEDA NATIONALS DAY TWO

The rounds were more centralized today.

A number of local judges are slow at getting their ballots and the stand bys
keep getting used. Bummer.

There are a huge number of SDSU people to help us. They havew a bunch of
smaller vehicles and are trying to help people go back and forth from distant
rounds. Very nice.

I like this year's CEDA Nats t-shirt and memory plastic cup.

Good bagel feed.

There is a huge basket of animal crackers in the judge and evidence storage
room which people keep feeding on.

As the day wound down reality started to set in. Some teams began to realize
that they were out of the tournament and for some their careers were ending.
The roar between rounds became slightly louder.

I saw:

Judges complaining about teams
Teams complaining about judges
Debaters complaining about their partners.
Replace "complaining" with "praising" and run those first three again.
The thrill of victory.
The agony of defeat.

The debate experience is working its magic and everyones' brain seems to be
growing. Excpt for that one round I judged. No names, please.

It is true that I have seen more *bad* critiques here than I have seen all
year.

News from the Vermont squad:

Maxwell Schnurer & Gordie Miller 5-2 (4-0 day two)
Jethro Hayman & Annalei McGreevy 5-2
Cleopatra Jones & Andrea Looby 5-2 or 4-3

On to day three!

AND WE HAVE TO LOSE AN HOUR OF SLEEP!

Your pal,

Tuna
