Doug Duke has appointed me to chair/head the Program Development
Project. Its goal is to produce material which will be useful to
new directors of debate and coaches starting a debate program or
inheriting one.
I plan to produce a manual which would include the following:
Summer institutes and handbooks.
Bibliography (reading list).
Fund raising and budgeting (including a budget request).
Debate schedules (the national schedule whittled down to the team
schedule).
How to help the student make the transition from high school to
CEDA debate.
Recruiting and training novices.
Researching (including on-line text retrieval).
The pre-tournament experience (receiving the invite to loading
the van).
The tournament experience (registration through picking up
packets.
This is a preliminary list, please forward additions and
deletions to me so I can ask people to write short papers on each
of these topics.
