600.250 -- Assignment 6 -- due Tuesday, 2/28 -- 20 points
The purpose of this assignment is to create a working relationship
with your project team and lay the groundwork for your group project.
You might want to designate different roles to each group
member to facilitate completing this assignment. Only one team member
should submit the resulting documents on Blackboard (all will receive
the same grade).
The group should meet in person to do this, as many times as
necessary. You will need a few droid phones, and most likely a few
laptops as well.
- [5 pts] Designate a note-taker to keep meeting minutes. Minutes should
include start and end times, names of those in attendance, and a
record of the items discussed and decisions made. It doesn't have
to be a verbatim transcript, but should be fairly detailed.
- [5 pts] Share your individual project ideas (from assignment 1C) with each
other. Brainstorm on variations, ways to combine diverse ideas, or
new app ideas altogether. Try to find an idea that everyone in the
group will be interested in.
- [5 pts] Write a short proposal for your app idea. At this stage
identify the main purpose of the app, the clients/stakeholders (if
any), users, and primary requirements. Identify the various
android components (database, GPS, media, accelerometer, etc.) you
expect to use in this app.
- [3 pts] Check to see if any apps (free or paid) exist in the
marketplace that fulfill your project idea, or are closely related.
If so, please change your app so that it is unique, or identify how
your implementation will be different and better. In other words,
write a pitch for this app as if you were appealing to supporters for
development funding. Make a good case for need and usefulness. [Do
not get into feature planning at this stage - you will need to do user
research first!]
- [2 pts] Create a blog space for your team. Each member should
have at least one entry. Include the address of your blog in the
project proposal and your meeting minutes.
- Submit your mobile app proposal as either a plain text or pdf
file on Blackboard.
- Submit the meeting notes as a plain text or pdf document on
Blackboard.
NOTE: This is a good time to let Joanne know
by email or in person if there are any indications that the group will not
function effectively together.
