Jatin Chhugani

I received my Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science at The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. My advisor was Dr. Subodh Kumar. I am currently working in the Applications Research Lab of Intel Corporation, Santa Clara, CA.

My research interests are in the areas of interactive computer graphics, computational geometry, computer haptics and digital image processing. Recently, I have started working in the area of out-of-core processing of gigantic models. I have also worked in the areas of curved surface display and volume visualization. Some of this work has resulted in significant software. You can look at the details of the projects or download papers. My Resume is available online.

My dissertation looks at the problem of developing efficient algorithms for real-time display of large models. The challenge is to enable interaction with large models without sacrificing the screen-space quality of the final display. Also, we focus on the out-of-core aspect of rendering such huge datasets, where only the visible portion and a small overhead can reside in the main memory. Moreover, the visible part of a model needs to be rendered so as to fully exploit the graphics hardware pipeline, and extract high rendering rates. [Details]
