Our team is riding in honor of Andy, a 12 year old boy with Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a type of pre-leukemia also known as Smouldering Leukemia. Click here to read more about Andy's story and visit his website at www.caringbridge.org/md/andy. This is the same malady that my Dad suffered, sapping most of his energy and making him prone to infections. Myelodysplasia was listed as the primary cause of his death, Christmas 2003. I will be riding in his memory as well. And lastly, I ride for the following friends and family members of my wonderful donors: Joseph & Jim, Rosemarie Tagg, Mrs. Kuzyk, Mrs. Falk, Marion & Marnie, Janet's parents & friend, Moe's mom, and Mike's cousin.

The Seagull Century on 10/9/04 was an incredible day, with the greatest teammates working together. It was the longest and fastest ride of my life: 100 miles at 15.3 mph (flat really does make a difference) in only 8 hours and 18 minutes elapsed time! The scenery was beautiful, we got to see some horses on Assateague Island, the weather was perfect, and the comaraderie was the best possible. What a wonderful experience. There were about 155 TnT riders from 7 states, who together raised $339,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Thanks to you all, my fundraising efforts brought in more than double the average, placing me in the top 5 for the Maryland region. Click on the links below for more pictures...

Here are progress statistics for the week starting on the date shown. The good news is that I haven't walked a hill since the first training ride. Reported speeds before 8/5 include short stops for red lights, drinks, breathing, etc. Speeds after 8/5 are riding times only. Longest training ride: 76 local miles at 12.9 mph, elapsed time 7.25 hours. Fastest training ride: 30 local miles at 14.2 mph.
