 Bio.
I was born in Flint, Michigan and at the age of five moved to Vancouver, Washington where I spent my childhood. I am an asian american and grew up speaking Mandarin Chinese in my household. My family is from Kaohsiung, Taiwan and Guangzhou, China.

I went to Mountain View High School, where I was on the dance and tennis teams and leadership in clubs like honor society. My first job was as a tutor for a live local cable television show called Homework Helpline. I also spent four years volunteering at Southwest Medical Hospital. I graduated in 2000.

In the summers of 1996 and 1998, I studied in New York City at Elite Academy.

I then went to Santa Clara University in California,  where I was actively involved in the multicultural student associations and various leadership and volunteer activities. I graduated in 2004 with a B.S. in Computer Engineering.

During 2004, I also interned at Lockheed Martin Space Systems working on the space based infrared project (SBIRS).

Now I'm living in Baltimore and working on a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University. During the summer of 2007, I interned with the computer vision group at General Electric Research in Niskayuna, NY.

In the spring of 2008 I lived in Palo Alto doing research at Stanford University for six months.
