I joined the Computer Science department in Fall 2000.
My research interests are primarily in Computational Biology, but I am also
very fond of Discrete Mathematics and Algorithms.
I received my bachelors degree also from Johns Hopkins University, in 1996, but in the Mathematical Sciences department. Then I was off to the University of Southern California, where I worked with Mike Waterman and received a M.S. in Applied Mathematics in 1998. Fall 1998-Spring 2000 I spent back in the Mathematical Sciences department here at JHU, where I just received a M.S.E. degree.
I've been doing some jumping around but I am planning on staying in the Computer Science department for the next few years and finishing a Ph.D. degree.
Right now I am working with Mike Betenbaugh in the Chemical Engineering department. We are working on new ways to analyze gene expression data.
I've also been working on a project with Christian Scheideler this semester (Spring 2001). We've been trying to extend some results of an adversarial routing algorithm.
AND, I've started working on a new method for aligning protein sequences with George Rose, Teresa Przytycka, Lenore Cowen, and Christian Scheideler. We are having way too much fun!
I had a great opportunity to work at Genetics Institute last summer. I worked with Donna Slonim on gene expression analysis. I wrote some programs I plan to put up here at some point.
Here are some links for protein programs and databases that you might find useful.
