The IRE is an effort to develop a Python based command interpreter. Its critical functions are to:

• Provide a scripting interface to existing C++ programs
• Leverage existing C++ driver libraries
• Provide a tool for online-robot development
• Allow for complete program development in IRE
• Provide tools to save data state
• Remain extensible
