Postdoctoral Scientist Opportunities in the McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine, Johns Hopkins University
We are seeking highly motivated candidates for one or more open postdoctoral research positions in Steven Salzberg's lab. This lab is part of the McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, one of the top medical schools in the country. Postdoctoral fellows will work on exciting, state-of-the-art computational problems involving next-generation sequence data, including genome assembly, transcript analysis from RNA-seq experiments, and the discovery of the genetic causes of disease. Our work is highly interdisciplinary and postdocs can expect to collaborate with colleagues in the Departments of Biostatistics and Computer Science, and with biomedical scientists in human genetics, neuroscience, oncology, and other areas. More information on our growing computational genomics group is at http://genomics.jhu.edu.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in computer science, biostatistics, applied mathematics, biomedical engineering, or similar fields. Applicants with Ph.D.s in biological sciences but with extensive bioinformatics experience are encouraged to apply as well. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, and the names of three references, with email contact information, directly to Dr. Salzberg. (See http://bioinformatics.igm.jhmi.edu/salzberg for email.) Applicants may optionally provide other information such as a research statement and PDFs of, at most, two recent publications.
Positions are available now and will remain open until filled. Women and under-represented minority candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.
The Johns Hopkins University is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
